Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit

 

Dr Batbuyan Batjav vists the MIASU for one month, April to May 2024.  He is human geographer, who has over thirty years of experience researching pastoral development in Mongolia. He was involved in various interdisciplinary research projects that assess the complexity of change in the rural community, where the socio-cultural, environmental, and economic drivers increasingly affect pastoralists. He expertise extends to conducting qualitative surveys across multiple countries, including Mongolia, China, Russia Federation, and the Republic of Kenya) Recent interdisciplinary research has explored the use of traditional ecological knowledge and characterization the transmission of knowledge (internal and intergenerational). His current work focuses on understanding the relationship between religious change and environmental change in drylands.  As part of this research study, he visits MIASU to take part in theoretical discussions and explore the resources of the Cambridge University Library to enrich his knowledge.
