Theo Hughes-Morgan is a Post-Doctoral Research and Teaching Associate, and Affiliated Lecturer, at the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. He completed his PhD in Social Anthropology in 2024, with a thesis entitled A social life of water: water, ownership and society in a Himalayan village. In the thesis, he examined the way in which the ownership of water is conceptualised and practiced by the Tibetan-speaking Nyinba people, of northwest Nepal. His work therefore speaks to pressing current political, geopolitical and anthropological concerns about what it means to own water, in a world of climatological, political, and demographic upheaval.
