Easter Term 2021

We would like to welcome the following visitors this term: 

September 2019 – September 2021: Zhou Yong, University of Oslo, working on his postdoctoral research:
“Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) and Natural Resources Exploitation: Institutionalizing Indigenous Peoples´ Rights in China”. Funded by the Research Council of Norway.

April 2021 – July 2021: Mari Valdur, visiting scholar from the University of Helsinki, where she recently defended her PhD thesis. She is now extending her doctoral research into post-socialist neoliberal politico-economics surrounding reproductive health in Ulaanbaatar. Funded by the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit. 

April 2021 – April 2022: Qi Ruona, a visiting scholar from the Wuhan University, working on her research: 'Between Traditional Culture and Regulatory Tool: Repositioning Environmental Customs in the context of Ecological Civilization Strategy in Inner Mongolia'. Funded by the China Scholarship council. 

April 2021 – October 2021: Hosung Shim a visiting scholar from South Korea, is developing his dissertation (entitled 'The State Formation of the Zunghar Principality: A Political History of the Last Centralised State of the Eurasian Steppe') into a book manuscript, and pursuing several other research projects. Funded by the Mongolian and Inner Asia Studies Unit.

May 2021 – July 2021: Björn Riechhardt, a visiting scholar from the University of Fribourg, working on his research on how border making practices have an impact on the perception of environments and security in the context of post-socialist uncertainty in Mongolia.
