The Mongolian "Father of Reforms'"

Gan-Ochir Buyanaa (Mongolia National University School of Law & MIASU Visiting Scholar)

"The Father of Reforms" is the title of Dr. Gan-Ochir's book. The book revolves around Namnansuren, Mongolia's first prime minister, and his program of reforms and modernization for the country after gaining independence from the Qing dynasty on December 29, 1911.

During the National Liberation Revolution of 1911, Mongolia declared its independence from China and initiated state reforms. Namnansuren, the esteemed Prime Minister of Mongolia, led this significant historical event alongside the nobles and religious sages who followed the footsteps of Genghis Khan. It is crucial for Mongolians to understand the value of independence, take pride in their history, draw lessons from the past, reflect on the present, and shape the future.

Dr. B. Gan-Ochir's work comprises a preface, four chapters containing 35 articles, and a bibliography. It covers the following topics:

  1. Chapter One: State and Social Reforms
  2. Chapter Two: Economic Reform
  3. Chapter Three: Update on Foreign Relations and the Third Neighbor Concept
  4. Chapter Four: Prime Minister T. Namnansuren's Genealogy, Ethnicity, and Relationship with State Officials

This study of Mongolia's first Prime Minister, T. Namnansuren, sheds light on crucial aspects such as Mongolian independence, foreign relations, social, economic, cultural, and educational reforms in the early 20th century.
