Eligibility

General Requirements

• Scholars from Mongolia are eligible for the 3-month and 9-month Visiting Research Programme at MIASU, Cambridge University.
• Scholars affiliated with MIASU can apply for the 3-month Visiting Research Programme in Mongolia.

Research Focus Areas:

Applicants must have concrete plans to conduct research in one or more of the following fields:

1. The nature and structure of the Mongol Empire.
2. Geography and Environment of the Mongols and the Mongol Empire across Eurasia.
3. The heritage of the Mongol Empire – cultural, historical, and material legacies.
4. The Mongol Empire’s impact on Eurasian history and its long-term influences.
5. Euro-American perspectives on Chinggis Khaan and the Mongol Empire.
6. Representations of Chinggis Khaan and the Mongol Empire in art, cinema, and literature.

Academic and Professional Criteria:

• Educational qualifications – Must be enrolled in or have completed a Master’s degree (or higher).
• English proficiency – Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in academic English writing.
• Active engagement in research – Preference will be given to applicants with a track record of contributing to scholarship on Chinggis Khaan and Mongol Empire.
