About
Mr Odbayar Ganbaatar is historian and was born in Baruun-Turuun soum, Uvs province of the Mongolia. He is a young researcher with the ability to conduct historical and linguistic analysis of historical sources, including Classical Mongolian, Clear Oyirad script, and Manchu scripts. His research, focuses on the second half of the 18th century, the Qing imperial administration in Khalkha Mongolia, the Qing-Dzungar relationship, and Manchu amban. He is proficient in Classical and Todo Mongolian, and Manchu, and has working knowledge of Polish, English, and German. He is now a research fellow at the Institute History and Ethnology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. He visits the MIASU for nine months, October 2025-June 2026, as one of the three first recipients of the Chinggis Khaan Grant - fully funded by the Government of Mongolia and administered by the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit (MIASU) at the University of Cambridge in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sport, Tourism and Youth of Mongolia, and the Institute of Chinggis Khaan Heritage and Culture.
