The archery event organised by the Cambridge Mongolian Cultural Society, with support from the Mongolia & Inner Asia Studies Unit (MIASU), was held on 14 June 2026, bringing together members of the Mongolian community from London, Cambridge, and other parts of the UK. Participants greatly appreciated Professor David Sneath's opening remarks and the ceremonial shot he made using a Mongolian arrow he had brought with him, which set a meaningful tone for the day.
Celebrating Naadam with an archery competition in Cambridge proved to be a wonderful way for our community to come together and enjoy a day rooted in tradition. Following Professor Sneath's words of encouragement, Cambridge residents and MIASU researchers achieved excellent results, winning a total of four medals - one gold, one silver, and two bronze.
The competition featured 29 archers, both women and men. MIASU participants included visiting scholar Odbayar Ganbaatar, Sa Qier, researchers Elvira and Joseph, as well as Zoloo and Andy.

The Naadam celebration was made even more special by the delicious Mongolian cuisine, generously prepared and donated by members of our community.
