Protecting child development amidst Mongolia's environmental challenges
Amarjargal Dagvadorj (MIASU Visiting Scholar)
The seminar will center on Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory as a framework for analyzing the interplay between environmental challenges in Mongolia and their consequences for child development. Recognizing that child development is influenced by interactions within the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, and macrosystem, the seminar will examine the impact of various environmental stressors across these interconnected levels. Particular attention will be given to the detrimental effects of air pollution, unequal access to quality educational facilities, and environmental injustice on the well-being of Mongolian children. Overall, the seminar will underscore the urgent need for collaborative, evidence-based solutions, fostering partnerships among researchers, government, civil society organizations, and international stakeholders to protect the well-being of Mongolia's youth.
